Limerick City and County Council has extended its congratulations to Billy Lee and Paddy Harnett after they secured the Flat and Apprentice Jockey Championship titles at the Curragh on Sunday.

Príomh Chomhairleoir Cllr Tom Ruddle, a keen racing fan from Newcastle West, attended the meeting and praised both jockeys. He said the day was “fantastic for Limerick sport” and highlighted the years of hard work and commitment that led to Billy’s championship win and Paddy’s Champion Apprentice title.

Mayor John Moran added that the two men have shown “exceptional talent, dedication and professionalism” and serve as “tremendous ambassadors for Limerick”.

Director General of Limerick City and County Council Dr Pat Daly described their achievements as an inspiration to young sportspeople and a source of great pride for the county.
