James McCarthy of Clareview and Maurice Noonan of Ballingarry will represent Ireland at the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League…

Kanturk defeated Éire Óg 1-15 to 0-14 in the Cork Senior A Football Championship final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, securing promotion to the Premier Senior Football Championship for 2027.
The match was described as a grueling climax to a dual championship campaign, with several Kanturk players attending the final after recent injuries. Captain Paul Walsh was highlighted as the pivotal figure, scoring a first‑half goal and directing play in the second half to break Éire Óg’s defence.
In the closing stages, Walsh’s cousin Tommy Walsh added a decisive two‑point score, extending Kanturk’s lead. Substitute Ronan O’Toole also contributed a point that helped maintain momentum, while Ian Walsh’s 60th‑minute two‑pointer further widened the gap.
Kanturk’s victory joins St Finbarr’s and Newcestown as the three clubs now competing at the top level in both grades. The team’s performance was praised for its size, skill and the impact of the Walsh brothers.
Éire Óg led at half‑time 0-9 to 1-5 but were unable to sustain the advantage, despite contributions from Colm and Darragh Clifford and a free from Daniel Goulding.
