Limerick duo selected for 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup
James McCarthy of Clareview and Maurice Noonan of Ballingarry will represent Ireland at the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League…

Erin’s Own hurlers have secured promotion back to the Cork Premier Senior division after being relegated in September 2023.
Brendan O’Riordan, the club’s manager, said the “raw pain” of losing their Premier Senior status after 47 years was used to motivate the players to regain their place.
Erin’s Own had been relegated after a drawn play‑off with Newtownshandrum, in which they led by five points with two minutes left. O’Riordan explained that the disappointment felt by the squad drove them to “atone” and work harder in training.
The club, three‑time Cork senior hurling champions (1992, 2006, 2007) and finalists in 2016, finished the Senior A campaign with five straight wins, securing the promotion.
O’Riordan noted that the team’s recent record – one win, two draws and six losses over the three seasons before relegation – meant they were “unfamiliar with winning on a regular basis”. He added that the consecutive victories have built confidence and momentum for the upcoming Premier Senior season.
The players’ commitment in league and challenge games, he said, was “of the highest level”, and the club now looks to re‑establish its place among Cork’s top hurling sides.
