Slí na Feirme (SnF), a farmer‑led multi‑species processing and food enterprise, has released its manifesto aimed at supporting small independent farms across Ireland.
Founded in 2025, SnF describes itself as a network that will provide accessible, small‑scale meat processing, stronger local market routes and support for farmers, butchers, food professionals, community developers and nature‑restoration practitioners.
The group’s first initiative will be an independent abattoir in Tramore, intended for small livestock farmers who feel squeezed by the industrialised system.
SnF’s vision includes building national food resilience and sovereignty, promoting biodiversity, animal welfare and financially sustainable food futures, contrasting with the large agri‑businesses that dominate the sector today.
Siobhan Hubbard of Newbard Farm, near Lismore, Co Waterford, is a driving force behind the organisation and highlighted the importance of creating viable networks of small farms.
