Sullivan wins Munster title at Petmania Puppy of the Year 2026

Sullivan, a Golden Retriever‑Cocker Spaniel cross from Newcastle West, was crowned the Munster winner of the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2026 competition.

The Grand Final took place at the Pet Expo in the National Show Centre, Dublin, earlier this month. Sullivan was one of 26 county finalists and triumphed in a field that attracted 1,414 puppy entries from across Ireland.

The event was hosted by Eurovision legend and animal‑welfare advocate Linda Martin and brought together the finalists, their families and the Petmania team to celebrate the puppies.

Owned by Marie Carr O’Kelly and her husband Patrick, Sullivan also serves as Head Bar Manager in the Silver Dollar Bar in Newcastle West, a role named after a loyal customer. He is a mascot for the Newcastle West Senior Camogie team and is known for greeting customers at the bar door.

Marie Carr O’Kelly encouraged others to consider getting a puppy, saying life is too short not to have a dog and that the effort is rewarded.
