The Sharks beat Munster 15-3 in a United Rugby Championship match at Thomond Park on Saturday.

Munster entered the game having secured only one league win in their first four fixtures, while the Sharks arrived with recent victories in Lyon and Cardiff. Despite the rain‑soaked Limerick night, the visitors adapted better to the conditions.

Munster fielded a youthful side, with ten players aged between 20 and 23, and lost only two players to Andy Farrell’s Ireland squad. The team dominated possession, holding 61 % in the opening period and 71 % of territory, but a series of errors – including lineout losses, knock‑ons and a blocked kick – prevented them from building momentum.

Gianni Lombard opened the scoring for the Sharks, and the 19‑year‑old full‑back Zekethelo Siyaya added a try that was not converted. Munster’s only points came from a JJ Hanrahan penalty before half‑time, leaving the score 5‑3 at the break.

In the second half the Sharks extended their lead with a penalty from Lombard and a conversion, making the final score 15‑3. The attendance was recorded at 10,403.
