Donegal County Council backs Tir Conaill FC’s Pearse Park plans in Glasgow
Tir Conaill Football Club has deepened its ties with Donegal after founder Darren O’Donnell met Donegal County Council…

Douglas moved a step closer to a Cork junior football title with a comprehensive 1‑7 to 0‑6 quarter‑final victory over Carrigaline on Saturday.
Chris O’Keeffe gave Douglas an early lead with a 26th‑minute goal, and the team built a nine‑point advantage by half‑time. Substitute Luke Jordan’s late goal for Carrigaline was insufficient to overturn the deficit, and Douglas secured a place in the semi‑final against Charleville.
The win was highlighted by strong defensive work from full back Donncha O’Callaghan and Kevin Hayes‑Curtin, while the bench contributed points through Padraig McGrath and Eoin O’Flynn.
In a club post, the late Johnny Grimes – who died on Saturday – was remembered for his lifelong dedication to Douglas GAA, having captained the hurling team to an intermediate county title in 2000 and winning an intermediate football title in 1997.
Douglas’ scorers included J. O’Brien (0‑5, two 20‑metre frees), C. O’Keeffe (1‑1), H. Quilligan (0‑3, two frees) and contributions from D. Reddington, R. O’Sullivan and S. O’Leary.
Carrigaline’s points came from B. Corkery‑Delaney (0‑5, two frees), L. Jordan (1‑0) and others.
