Diego Rodrigues Caixeta, the winner of Traitors Ireland, said he is not expecting a faithful win in this season of Celebrity Traitors UK.
Comedian Joanne McNally, the only Irish contestant in the Celebrity Traitors castle, was banished on Thursday night’s episode, leaving just one day before the finale.
Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Diego, who won Traitors Ireland alongside fellow faithful Anna Murphy in September, said he had hoped McNally would reach the end. He described her as “the funniest person left in there” but noted the heat had been on her.
Diego added, “I think the traitors have the faithfuls wrapped around their fingers, so I’m not holding my breath for a faithful win.” He recalled catching traitor Pauric O’Meara at the final fire‑pit gathering outside Slane Castle, after observing that influential “alpha” players were being murdered while he remained in the game.
He explained the difficulty of convincing Anna of his faithfulness while keeping his knowledge of Pauric’s identity secret, and said the later stages of the game left him “super exhausted and super nervous” with heightened paranoia.
Diego noted that contestants filmed at the castle for two weeks, and that having his husband Denis Ryan with him provided crucial support, especially after Denis was “murdered” by the traitors. He also mentioned participating in the show as a way to honour his late mother.
