A former takeaway unit at the Limerick Milk Market has been converted into the Rising Together Training Centre (RTTC), offering vocational training for adults with intellectual disabilities.

The centre, funded by The Michael Guinee Charitable Foundation (MGCF), operates Monday to Friday and provides practical training in baking, cooking, barista skills, catering and hospitality. It also supplies off‑site catering and sells sandwiches, soups, treats, pizza slices and pastries.

David Fitzgerald, General Manager of the Limerick Milk Market, said the market team are delighted to receive support for a long‑held ambition to develop a food training centre in the heart of Limerick’s food community. He thanked MGCF for sponsoring the unit’s renovation and fit‑out.

Derek Barrett, Chief Executive of MGCF, highlighted the foundation’s aim to create genuine employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities and welcomed the centre’s opening.

Laura Holland, Founder and CEO of Rising Together Training Programmes, noted that the programme has boosted participants’ confidence and skills. Liam Flannery, Chairman of the Limerick Market Trustees, added that the centre will benefit both trainees and the wider hospitality sector in Limerick and the region.
