The White House announced that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a local ceasefire in the Russian‑occupied city of Oleshky.

Both parties will halt all military operations in Oleshky from 27 October, allowing humanitarian aid deliveries and preparations for the evacuation of civilians.

The city is facing a deepening humanitarian crisis, with severe shortages of food, water and electricity, and reports that some residents are surviving on weeds.

The ceasefire aims to alleviate the suffering of thousands of civilians caught in the conflict.
