More than 4,500 electricity customers across County Donegal are without power after Storm Boelo struck the area.

Creeslough is the hardest hit, with 2,493 customers off the grid. Dungloe is affected by four separate faults, leaving 780 customers without electricity, while a fault listed in Donegal town impacts 751 customers. Gweedore accounts for 340 customers across two faults, with smaller numbers in Kilcar (76), Stranorlar (48) and Convoy (13).

ESB Networks estimates that power will not be restored in most of the affected areas until 2 pm on Sunday, 25 October, although Convoy may see supply returned by 9.30 pm tonight. Restoration times remain subject to change as crews assess damage.

Additional impacts and safety warnings

Flooding has been reported on the Carrigart‑Creeslough Road and the main road into Brockagh is blocked by fallen trees. A car was submerged at Rossnowlagh beach, though no injuries have been reported.

Donegal County Council has urged residents to avoid non‑essential travel, take necessary precautions, and be aware of surface flooding in parts of Ardara, Killybegs and the Glen Road townland of Buncroobog. The Harry Blaney Bridge is closed to traffic and the Donegal Town pier car park will be restricted from 4 pm due to flood risk.

Met Éireann’s orange wind warning remains in place until 9 am on Sunday, with a red marine warning for sea areas from Rossan Point to Fair Head, effective from 7 pm this evening until 6 am on Sunday.
