Trump reportedly rejects Iran’s seven‑day Hormuz peace proposal

U.S. President Donald Trump is said to have turned down Iran’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and resume nuclear negotiations in exchange for lifting the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran is awaiting an official response to the proposal, which it presented as a means to ease tensions in the strategically vital waterway.

According to unnamed U.S. officials cited by the Wall Street Journal, Trump remains privately sceptical that Tehran will meet his demands to dismantle its nuclear programme, and he is expected to consider renewed strikes after the U.S. mid‑term elections.

The situation leaves both sides without a confirmed agreement, and the future of the blockade and nuclear talks remains uncertain.
