Kilmaley defeat Scariff in TUS Senior Championship semi‑final

Kilmaley overcame Scariff in the TUS Senior Championship semi‑final at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chiosóg in Ennis on Saturday, securing a place in the final.

The match, played at 4.30 pm, saw Kilmaley claim the Canon Hamilton trophy, becoming the twelfth different winner in the competition’s last 22 years. The victory follows Kilmaley’s earlier loss to Éire Óg, a result the club had rued twelve months ago.

Scariff, who returned to the penultimate stage for the first time in 19 years, were hampered by injuries to several key players, including Liam Crotty, Rossa Keehan, Patrick Ryan, Seanie Hartigan and Luke Madden, who missed the quarter‑final with Clooney‑Quin. Keelan Hartigan also retired early with a hamstring problem.

Both sides entered the game with limited senior final experience; Kilmaley last contested a senior final in 2004, while Scariff have not reached a final since 1991. The semi‑final highlighted the narrow margins that define success in Clare hurling, with both clubs hoping to bridge long‑standing gaps to senior glory.

Injuries also affected Kilmaley, as playmaker Mikey O’Neill left the field before half‑time with a groin injury, impacting the team’s performance in the latter stages of the game.
