An adjournment has been granted in the case of MMA fighter Joshua Allen, allowing a new witness to give a statement.

Allen, 26, faces nine charges stemming from an incident on 27 October 2025 in the Shanagarry area of East Cork. The charges include failing to stop a red Ford Transit van at a garda checkpoint, dangerous driving on the R629 and R632, driving while intoxicated after testing positive for cocaine and cannabis, assaulting Gardaí Patrick Costello and Ciaran Cummins McCarthy, resisting a garda, unlawful possession of ketamine and a sharply‑pointed knife, and another dangerous‑driving count at Shanagarry North.

He was due to enter a signed guilty plea or request a book of evidence at Midleton District Court, but defence solicitor Don Ryan identified an “issue” and wrote to the Director of Public Prosecutions. The DPP requested an adjournment by consent so a witness can provide a statement and to consider the matters raised.

Judge Catherine Ryan adjourned the case until 19 November, and Allen was remanded on continuing bail. He attended court in a black jacket and did not speak. Allen is the eldest son of TV chef and author Rachel Allen, a former mixed‑martial‑arts champion, and runs his own stonemasonry business.
