RTÉ Concert Orchestra to perform historic concert in Gort a’ Choirce

For the first time the full RTÉ Concert Orchestra will perform in the Donegal Gaeltacht, with a concert scheduled for Wednesday 7 October at 7.30 pm in Gortahork.

The event, titled Cóisir Cheoil – An tAmhrán is Ansa Linn, is being hosted by Teach Pobail Chríost Rí and will be presented by Cóisir Cheoil host Dónall Mac Ruairí.

Among the Irish traditional musicians joining the orchestra are Altan, Iarla Ó Lionaird, Zoe Conway, John McIntyre, Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta, Piaras Ó Lorcáin, John Beag Ó Flatharta, Máire and Étáin Ní Churraoin and Méabh Ní Bheaglaoich.

The concert will be broadcast live on Raidió na Gaeltachta and later filmed for broadcast on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player as part of RTÉ’s centenary celebrations and events linked to Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

It will feature 40 favourite Irish‑language songs selected by Raidió na Gaeltachta listeners through the #AmhránRnaG campaign on the programme Cóisir Cheoil during the summer. Additional tickets have been released on Eventbrite due to strong demand.
