Munster will face The Sharks in a United Rugby Championship match at Thomond Park on Saturday, 31 October, with kick‑off scheduled for 5.30 pm.

Coach Clayton McMillan confirmed that the side will be without captain Tadhg Beirne and Craig Casey, while a sizeable injury list also affected the team in their recent 24‑18 bonus‑point loss to Leinster at the Aviva Stadium.

Munster led 13‑5 after tries from Shane Daly and Ben O’Connor, but Leinster rallied with three second‑half tries to overturn the deficit. After the game McMillan said the defeat was “genuine disappointment” despite securing a bonus point in a tightly‑packed table.

In other local sport, the All‑Ireland League resumes on Saturday at 2.30 pm with fixtures across divisions 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and 2C, including Young Munster v Lansdowne and UL Bohemian v Queen’s University.

In horse racing, champion jockey Billy Lee of Ballingarry is on course to become the oldest first‑time Flat season champion at the Curragh, edging Colin Keane in the title race.

Soccer sees the Munster Junior Cup third round fixtures this weekend, and Fairview Rangers’ Jake Dillon, Jason Cross and Conor Coughlan have been selected for the UEFA Regions Cup representing Munster FA.

Other sporting highlights include Séamus Cawley completing his 45th Dublin Marathon, Limerick Celtics beating Limerick Eagles 85‑76 in the Men’s Super League, and the opening round of the 1XBet Irish St. Leger greyhound race at Limerick with a €30,000 first prize.
