Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC) announced a record‑breaking profit of just over €17.5 million for 2025, a 12 per cent increase on the previous year.
The port reported EBITDA of more than €8 million for the first time and an operating profit of €5.71 million, up from €4.81 million in 2024. Revenue growth came from both directly managed and privately owned terminals, with ship and cargo revenues rising €0.8 million (10.1 per cent).
Throughput on the Shannon Estuary increased 2.2 per cent to 9.35 million tonnes, while Foynes Port – the company’s largest terminal – achieved its highest ever annual tonnage, up 10.8 per cent year‑on‑year.
At year‑end the balance‑sheet value stood at €71.6 million and net debt fell to €6.9 million, a €3 million reduction. Net assets reached €72 million, a 240 per cent rise over the ten‑year period to 2025.
Chief Executive Pat Keating highlighted the results as evidence of the port’s focus on revenue growth, cost management and maximising capacity at Foynes and Limerick terminals. He noted progress on infrastructure projects, including the Adare bypass slated for summer 2027, the reopening of the 40 km Limerick‑to‑Foynes rail line for freight in Q1 2027, and ongoing work on the Foynes Island Deepwater Port.
Chairperson Michael Walsh said the strong financial position would enable further investment in infrastructure to support Ireland’s future economic, logistics and energy needs, citing the potential for job creation, carbon‑reduction and the development of offshore renewable energy.
