Motorists have been advised to exercise caution as roadworks commence on the busy Glenties to Maas section of the N56.

The remediation works address a series of dips and sinkages that locals have highlighted as hazardous. Traffic management measures have been put in place, and drivers are asked to travel slowly and expect minor delays.

Sinn Féin councillor Brian Carr welcomed the commencement of the repairs, describing the dips as “very bad”. He urged motorists to take care while the works are underway.

In addition to the N56 works, similar roadworks are under way on the R259 between Burtonport and Dungloe, with traffic management in place and a request for drivers to proceed cautiously.
