Putin claims Russia is Africa’s top partner at summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin told African leaders that Moscow is the continent’s best partner, accusing the “colonial” West of continuing to exploit Africa’s resources.

Speaking at the opening of a two‑day Russia‑Africa Summit, Putin asserted that Russia offers a more reliable and respectful partnership for African nations.

The summit, hosted by the Kremlin, brings together leaders from dozens of African countries to discuss cooperation on trade, investment and security.

Putin’s remarks contrasted Russia’s approach with that of Western nations, which he described as still seeking to benefit from Africa’s natural resources.

The event is expected to result in a series of agreements aimed at deepening economic ties between Russia and the participating African states.
