Limerick claim 13 of 24 All‑Star hurling nominations

Limerick have secured 13 of the 24 places on this year’s All‑Star hurling shortlist, dominating the list of nominees.

The nominations, released by the Gaelic Players Association, feature first‑time nominees Cathal O’Neill (Crecora/Manister), Adam English (Doon), Shane O’Brien (Kilmallock) and Aidan O’Connor (Ballybrown), who turns 24 this weekend.

The county breakdown is Limerick 13, Galway 11, Cork 7, Clare 6, Dublin 3, Waterford 2, Offaly 2 and Kilkenny 1. Limerick’s panel of nominees suggests around ten players could make the final XV, a stark contrast with the 2025 season when no Limerick players were selected.

GAA Players Association CEO Tom Parsons said the haul reflects Limerick’s “fantastic year” and their recent Grand‑slam of All‑Ireland, Munster and League titles.

Player of the Year nominations include Limerick’s Diarmaid Byrnes and Gearóid Hegarty alongside Cork’s Brian Hayes.

The full list of nominees covers all positions, from goalkeepers Nickie Quaid and Éibhear Quilligan to forwards such as Peter Duggan and Stephen Bennett. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live from the RDS in Dublin on 30 October.
