Christmas in Limerick will officially begin with the Light Up Limerick switch‑on ceremony on Saturday, 21 November.
The free event will start at 7 pm with a Christmas procession produced by LUXE, departing from Brown Thomas and moving along O’Connell Street. The parade will feature illuminated characters, live music, street performances and seasonal entertainment, culminating in a spectacular finale at the top of the thoroughfare.
A specially constructed stage on O’Connell Street will host further live entertainment, festive performances and special guest appearances before the official switch‑on of the city’s Christmas lights. The evening will close with a musical finale and a dazzling fireworks display.
Spectators are advised to arrive between 6.30 pm and 7 pm and gather along O’Connell Street from Brown Thomas to Lower Glentworth Street to enjoy the best views. No booking is required.
Mayor John Moran said the switch‑on “marks the start of a wonderful festive season” and will launch the Christmas in Limerick 2026 programme, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.
