Fine Gael councillor Dan McSweeney has asked Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) to seek funding for improved pedestrian crossing facilities at two sites in Patrickswell.
At the October meeting of the Metropolitan District, Cllr McSweeney formally proposed a motion for the Council to consider submitting a grant application to provide better crossing points, including appropriate signage and road markings, at the bus stop near Well Done Chinese Takeaway and at Patrickswell Community Centre.
He said rising traffic volumes on Main Street make it essential to invest in pedestrian safety, noting the high footfall around the bus stop and the community centre.
The Council’s Active Travel team replied that it will discuss the proposal with the Operations and Maintenance Team and will assess the feasibility of applying for funding under the Towns and Villages scheme for 2027.
