Independent councillor John O’Donoghue has asked Limerick County Council to make copies of completed wind‑farm noise surveys and monitoring reports publicly available.
At the Adare‑Rathkeale area meeting, Cllr O’Donoghue requested that the council either publish the documents on its website or provide them on request as environmental records, arguing that residents should have access to information about noise investigations affecting their homes.
The council responded that releasing the full surveys and investigation reports carries legal and privacy risks that differ from the general noise‑compliance summaries it already produces. Council members explained that the detailed reports relate directly to individual citizens’ complaints about noise at specific household locations.
Furthermore, the council warned that making these investigation documents publicly accessible could interfere with ongoing or future civil litigation and might unfairly single out wind‑farm operators, potentially exposing the council to legal challenges.
