The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West has announced the appointment of Dr Rachel Mullaly as a consultant neonatologist at University Maternity Hospital Limerick (UMHL).

Dr Mullaly’s arrival raises the total number of consultant neonatologists serving the Mid West region to seven, enhancing specialist care for newborns and their families.

She is a regular presenter of her work at both national and international conferences, bringing recognised expertise to the unit.

The appointment follows a major investment in the hospital’s neonatal facilities, including a two‑storey extension and refurbishment of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit completed in 2025 at a cost of €9.7 million.
