Six people were taken to hospital following a serious two‑car collision on the N73 at Ballysheehan, Mallow, at about 10.05 pm on Sunday.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene. A man in his 30s, the driver of one vehicle, was transferred to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries. The second driver, a man in his 40s, and four passengers were also taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life‑threatening at the time.

A Garda spokesperson advised that all vehicles, especially HGVs coming from Mitchelstown on the N73, should divert at Skennakilla Cross onto the local road leading to the N72 near Killavullen. Traffic travelling from Mallow may continue onto the N72 and use alternative routes via Fermoy.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses and anyone with dash‑cam or other footage of traffic on the N73 near Ballysheehan between 9.40 pm and 10.10 pm on 1 November. Information can be given to Mallow Garda Station on (022) 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
