The FBI has begun questioning donors about possible deception in the campaign of Alaska U.S. Senate candidate Dan J. Sullivan.
Agents have visited donors in at least two remote Alaskan communities and in Massachusetts, including a boat dealership in Petersburg where the candidate resides. An Anchorage‑based FBI officer left a business card for Charles Flint, who said he has known Sullivan for years as a teacher and musician and contributed €500 to his campaign.
Flint told the Associated Press the agent asked whether he felt misled about the candidate he supported. Flint said he was not misled and intends to rank Democrat Mary Peltola first on his ballot, followed by Sullivan.
Other donors reported brief, voluntary interviews with FBI agents in Sitka and Groton, Massachusetts, confirming the inquiry focuses on whether contributions were made to the intended Sullivan.
U.S. Attorney Michael Heyman said the investigation has been ongoing for months and has intensified after reports that Peltola’s campaign may have recruited the retired teacher Dan Sullivan.
The probe comes ahead of the ranked‑choice general election, where incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan faces former congresswoman Mary Peltola.
