Toronto police are searching for three suspects after a home invasion in the city’s affluent Bridle Path neighbourhood left a real‑estate executive and his two daughters shot, and his wife struck with a hammer.

The attack occurred at about 03:44 EST (07:00 GMT) on Thursday when three masked men entered the property through a rear door, confronted the family and fired multiple shots. The victims, identified by age as 75, 64, 28 and 26, were taken to hospital; two remain admitted.

David Morton, chief executive of the Mac Group, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the family “should never have to experience this” and describing the trauma of being attacked in their own home. He said the suspects demanded valuables before fleeing in a car.

Inspector Kristy Smith of the Toronto Police Service said the suspects are believed to be men in their 20s and that the motive appears to be the family’s residence in a wealthy area. Police are still determining whether anything was taken and are collecting bullet casings to aid identification.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow described the incident as “deeply troubling” and urged that residents feel safe in their homes. Police Chief Myron Demkiw promised increased patrols in the Bridle Path and additional resources to combat the rise in home invasions.
