A resident of east Donegal has again offered a €1,000 reward for information that could prevent vandalism and anti‑social behaviour on Halloween.
The bounty is aimed at anyone who can give Gardaí or Donegal County Council tips that stop trouble before it starts, or that lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for damaging public or private property.
On Halloween night 2024, the Dromore Bridge area between Killygordon and Crossroads saw tyres set alight and a large gathering of youths before Gardaí arrived to disperse the crowd. Police believed many participants had travelled from other towns and villages across the Finn Valley.
The resident said the offer is a repeat of a previous reward after earlier incidents, including a vacant house being deliberately set alight several years ago. “I am again offering €1,000 to anyone who can help prevent this Halloween madness by providing information in advance to Gardaí or Donegal County Council,” they told Donegal Daily.
Local councillor Patrick McGowan condemned the vandalism as an attack on the community and urged anyone with information to contact Gardaí or a trusted community member, assuring confidentiality. He also confirmed an increased Garda presence in the area this year.
Information can be given to Gardaí at Ballyshannon District Headquarters on 071 985 8530, via the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or to Donegal County Council on 074 91 53900 or online at www.donegalcoco.ie.
