Councillor seeks extra funding for second road‑patching truck

Independent councillor Tommy Hartigan has asked Limerick City and County Council for additional funding to rent a second road‑patching truck for the winter months.

Hartigan argued that the road‑maintenance team has a limited window each year to carry out patching work and that a second unit would improve efficiency. His motion was seconded by Fine Gael councillor Adam Teskey.

The council executive replied that the district engineer has already approached central services to request extra funding for a second patching unit for the final three months of the year. However, the senior engineer has advised that no further funding will be made available for road maintenance between now and the end of the year.
