Surprise exhibition showcases Martin Benson’s photography at Fort Dunree

The Saldanha Suite at Artlink Fort Dunree hosted a surprise exhibition of local photographer Martin Benson’s life’s work this week.

Organised by his daughter Siobhan Benson, the event displayed a small selection from the thousands of photographs Benson has taken over decades, many of which were previously given as gifts or stored in biscuit tins of negatives.

Benson, now 70, has never publicly exhibited his images, which span the era before digital editing and camera phones. Siobhan said the exhibition was intended to give her modest father the recognition he deserves.

The exhibition opened on a Friday and will remain on display until Friday 2 October. The gallery is open daily from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and entry is free.
