Energy suppliers likely to raise Irish bills by about 10% in early 2027
Industry insider Daragh Cassidy of Bonkers.ie predicts Irish energy bills will rise again in the New Year, potentially…

Donegal TD Pearse Doherty has urged the Government to reinstate household energy credits, saying Budget 2027 failed to tackle soaring electricity costs.
Doherty cited Central Statistics Office data showing wholesale electricity prices have risen by 93 percent over the past year, effectively doubling.
He warned that the increase will inevitably be passed on to consumer bills this winter, adding that many workers and families are already under severe financial pressure.
The Sinn Féin TD criticised the budget as insufficient and blamed the government’s lack of investment in energy infrastructure and its prioritisation of data centres for Ireland’s high electricity prices, which he said are the highest in Europe.
Doherty called on Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Independents to “come to their senses” and immediately restore energy credits, a measure Sinn Féin has repeatedly advocated.
