A special edition Murphy’s stout created to mark the Cork brewery’s 170th anniversary is now sold out in many outlets, with remaining stock described as “limited”, Heineken Ireland said.

The Murphy’s 170 Whiskey Cask Stout, launched in September, is an 8.4% ABV brew aged in whiskey barrels at Midleton Distillery and was offered in more than 80 pubs and retailers across Cork city and county.

Heineken Ireland confirmed the beer remains available in a number of Cork locations but supplies are constrained and some venues have already run out due to high consumer interest.

The company added there are no plans to extend the availability of the once‑off celebration brew, despite the “hugely positive consumer reaction”.

The stout, which features notes of caramel, vanilla, roast coffee and dark fruit, commemorates the history of the Lady’s Well Brewery, founded in 1856 by James J. Murphy and his brothers after purchasing the former Cork Foundling Hospital site.
