The FBI carried out a raid on a Beverly Hills residence early this morning as part of an ongoing criminal investigation involving former US Congressman Eric Swalwell.

Swalwell, 45, withdrew from California’s governor’s race earlier this year and resigned his seat in the House of Representatives after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him. In August, FBI agents stopped him at an airport, seized his electronic devices and later raided his Washington DC home.

According to US media, the latest operation targeted a house in the Los Angeles region that is recorded in public records as being owned by billionaire Stephen Cloobeck, a former California gubernatorial candidate who previously backed Swalwell’s campaign. Cloobeck was not present when the search warrant was executed and his lawyers said he continues to have faith in the judicial process.

The Department of Justice and the FBI declined to provide further comment beyond confirming the early‑morning raid. Swalwell has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and his attorney described the accusations as “fabricated” and a “political hit job.”

Swalwell is under separate investigations in New York City and Los Angeles concerning the misconduct claims, though he has not been criminally charged. The House ethics committee had opened an inquiry but halted it after his departure from Congress.
