Dunsink City Quarter plan approved for up to 15,000 homes
A landmark plan for up to 15,000 homes in the Dunsink City Quarter has been approved by Fingal…

Donegal TD Pearse Doherty has warned that the government is failing renters and young workers, who are bearing the brunt of the cost‑of‑living crisis.
Doherty, Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Finance, referred to newly released CSO data showing that workers under 35 and renters are the groups most impacted by inflation.
He said all households are feeling pressure, but “younger workers and renters are being hit hardest”. He criticised Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Independents for offering no income‑tax cuts last year and only “crumbs” this year, with most workers receiving little more than €200.
The TD called for the removal of the USC on the first €40,000 of earnings, a reversal of planned public‑transport fare increases, and the abolition of apprenticeship and college fees to support younger workers.
Doherty also argued that recent legislation allowing landlords to raise rents, combined with a budget that provides no extra funding for new homes, is worsening the situation. He urged a ban on rent increases, a doubling of the renters’ tax credit and a significant boost in housing investment.
