Met Éireann has placed Cork and Kerry under three separate weather warnings as heavy rain and gale‑force winds are set to affect the final hours of the bank holiday weekend.

A yellow rain warning will be in force from 01:00 GMT to 09:00 on Monday across both counties, with forecasters warning of torrential showers that could cause spot flooding on low‑lying regional roads and make morning commutes hazardous.

A second yellow rain warning is scheduled for Cork, Kerry, Galway and Mayo from 16:00 to 22:00, while a yellow wind warning will cover a wide swathe of the south and east, including Carlow, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Mayo, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow, from 17:00 to midnight.

Potential impacts listed by Met Éireann include debris, displaced loose objects, large coastal waves, fallen trees and difficult driving and cycling conditions.

Cork County Council has urged residents to plan journeys carefully and has cancelled the “Malloween” family event at Mallow Castle, citing public safety concerns. The council also advised households to secure garden furniture and other loose items before the evening gales arrive.

AA Roadwatch warned motorists to increase stopping distances to at least four seconds, slow down, and avoid driving through floodwater of unknown depth, noting that less than 30 cm of moving water can float a standard car.
