Rhys “Lights Out” Owens secured a fourth‑round knockout victory on the main card of the Rumble In The Hills 3 event at the Aura Leisure Complex in Letterkenny on Saturday.
The former Irish Elite champion, who fights at super‑featherweight or lightweight, improved his record to 5‑0 with a knockout of Peru’s Cesar Ignacio Parades in an eight‑rounder. Referee Padraig O’Reachtagain scored the bout 80‑72 in Owens’ favour after the 33‑year‑old Peruvian was shaken by a body‑head combination in the fifth round.
Owens, a graduate of the Erne Boxing Club and coached by Sean Crowley, previously made his professional debut at the same venue last October, defeating Stefan Nicolae by third‑round stoppage. He also recorded wins in Donegal in July and over the Christmas period.
Other notable results included Aodhan Byrne’s six‑round points win over Benito Sanchez Garcia, Mayo‑born Eoghan Lavin’s 55‑second knockout of Angel Petkov Emilov, and Derry welterweight Simon Clarke’s points victory over Argentina’s Ezequiel Gregores.
The night was promoted by former world middleweight title challenger Jason Quigley of Sheer Sports Promotions, despite Storm Boelo causing widespread power outages across the county.
