EduGreen Connect platform launched to link green jobs and training

A new sustainability‑focused national platform, EduGreen Connect, was launched on 24 September to connect jobs, skills and education in Ireland.

The service, developed by Ireland’s Knowledge Centre for Carbon, Climate and Community Action and led by Munster Technological University in partnership with University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, will collate information on sustainability skills, careers, education and training.

Representatives said the platform responds to major workforce requirements in renewable energy, residential retrofit and electric vehicles, sectors deemed essential for meeting Ireland’s 2030 climate targets. Demand for green hiring is also growing in finance, construction, energy, transport, engineering and other areas.

EduGreen Connect will provide data on the labour market to give employers and education providers insight into where skills are most needed, helping to match workforce demand with appropriate training.

Dr Helena McMahon, director of EduGreen Connect at Munster Technological University, said the platform brings together information that has traditionally been difficult to see in one place, enabling quicker responses to changing skills needs and helping people find existing learning opportunities.
