The United States conducted limited, defensive strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, officials told…

Former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar told listeners on The Claire Byrne Show that people should be prepared for the possibility that the US mid‑term election results could be disputed.
Varadkar said there are concerns former President Donald Trump may try to challenge the outcome, potentially launching court cases in states where results are close and alleging voter fraud. He recalled the 2020 presidential election, when Trump’s supporters marched on Congress after his loss to Joe Biden, and suggested Trump now appears “less sound in his mind”.
Varadkar argued that a large margin of victory for the Democrats would make a dispute harder, noting that unexpected wins in states such as Texas, Iowa and Kansas could limit challenges. He added that a new Congress, which begins sitting in January, could make life difficult for any Trump‑led administration over the next two years.
The former Irish leader also referenced statements from California Governor Gavin Newsom, who accused Trump of seeking to overturn 20,000 ballots in the state and warned of legal consequences for interference. Varadkar highlighted the broader US political climate, saying the mood has shifted to “go after” MAGA supporters.
