Two men were arrested following a break‑in at a church on Cockhill Road in Buncrana, County Donegal, on Saturday 3 October 2026.

Gardaí responded to a report of theft shortly before 9.30 am, attended the scene and detained the two males, both in their 30s, at a Donegal Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The offenders were charged and later released on bail, with a future appearance scheduled at Buncrana District Court. The cash taken from the offertory boxes was recovered.

Garda spokespersons have urged all places of worship to review their security arrangements. Divisional Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Fergus Mc Groary is available for advice on additional measures and can be contacted via Letterkenny Garda Station on 074‑9167100.
