Seven Sisters poets launch fundraising tour to save Ennis record store

A fundraising tour by the women’s poetry collective Seven Sisters aims to keep Ennis’ only vinyl record store and café, The Record Break, open.

The tour follows the launch of Sinéad Nic Síoda’s “Save The Record Break” campaign after it emerged that the Upper Market Street car‑park building, home to the shop for more than a decade, is to be sold. Nic Síoda has also recorded a new song, “Snow Moon”, to raise money for a possible purchase of the premises.

Seven Sisters, formed in 2018 to address the under‑representation of women in Irish poetry, will perform at EASI Artists Studios in Ennis on Saturday, 26 September from 5 pm to 7 pm. All proceeds will go directly to Nic Síoda’s campaign. The line‑up includes Esther McMorrow Donnellan, Jennifer Lindsay Grey, Madge O’Callaghan, Mallika McCarthy, Marion Moynihan, Ruth Marshall and Amanda Ní Sheannáin, with a prize painting offered by studio artist Lindsey Power.

The collective previously held a fundraiser at Aonach Na Sionna and will continue the tour with a third reading at Salmon Bookshop in Ennistymon on Saturday, 3 October.
