A 39‑year‑old man from Delhurst Lane, Blanchardstown, Dublin, has been remanded in custody for four weeks to allow forensic analysis of cocaine seized at Cork Airport.

Detective Garda Patrick O’Sullivan arrested Patrick Cahill at Togher garda station at 10.45 p.m. on 1 September and charged him with possession of cocaine at Cork Airport on 31 August and with intent to supply.

Judge David Waters adjourned the case to 4 November at Cork District Court, noting the seriousness and the State’s claim that the drugs are worth in excess of €1 million and that a certificate of analysis should be available within two months.

Cahill was remanded with consent to bail on a €900 bond, including €300 cash and two independent sureties of €15 000 each, with €5 000 cash to be lodged per surety. He must surrender all travel documents, sign in daily at Blanchardstown garda station, reside at his Blanchardstown address and observe a curfew from 9 pm to 8 am.

The seizure reportedly involved ten bricks of cocaine with a street value of over €1 million found in his suitcase.
