A man appeared before the Central Criminal Court in Limerick on Monday and pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual assault.

The accused is alleged to have used his penis to penetrate a teenage boy’s mouth during a date in November 2024 at a premises in Limerick City. He faces one count of sexual assault.

A jury of six men and six women was sworn in by Judge Sean Gillane, and the court warned the trial could last up to seven days.

Reporting restrictions imposed by the court prevent identification of both the accused and the alleged victim. Evidence is expected to be presented on Tuesday when the trial is scheduled to commence.
