A 35‑year‑old man has been arrested in Northern Ireland on suspicion of murdering 39‑year‑old Limerick woman Carrie Mullane (Noonan), authorities said.
Ms Mullane was last seen on 10 October after travelling by bus to Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, with a man she knew. From the bus depot on Wellington Road she and her companion took a taxi to an address in Trasna Park, and the final confirmed sighting was at about 9 pm that Saturday.
She has not been heard from since, and no confirmed sightings have been reported. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and An Garda Síochána classified her as a ‘high‑risk’ missing person on 29 October and launched an intensive search involving CCTV trawls, house‑to‑house enquiries, electronic analysis and witness interviews.
Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton of the PSNI Serious Crime Branch said the lack of contact is “extremely out of character” for Ms Mullane and raised serious concerns that she may have been the victim of a violent crime. He added that two Family Liaison Officers have been sent to Limerick to support her relatives.
The PSNI appealed for information from the community, asking anyone who saw Ms Mullane on the weekend of 10 October or thereafter to contact the Major Investigation Team on 101 (extension 40374) or via the online reporting portals.
