Kanturk were beaten 0‑12 to 0‑10 by Carbery Rangers in the Cork Senior A football semi‑final at Macroom on Sunday, October 11, ending their championship campaign.

The match was decided in the final two minutes of injury‑time, with Carbery Rangers extending a two‑point lead to secure the win. Kanturk had not scored for 19 minutes and were unable to find an equaliser despite a late surge.

The defeat follows a busy season for the dual club, which saw them remove Blackrock from the hurling conversation, end the reign of Sars, and reach a first‑ever Premier Senior semi‑final. Their football side also reached a first‑ever senior decider in the Premier Senior ranks, joining clubs such as St Finbarr’s and Newcestown.

Club captain Lorcán McLoughlin, making his 168th championship appearance, praised the team’s resolve after the loss, noting the importance of individual moments that lifted confidence throughout the season.

Kanturk now look ahead to the Senior A decider against Éire Óg, hoping to build on the momentum from a season described as “a series of almosts”.
