Irish show‑jumper’s TikTok on weekend loneliness goes viral

Twenty‑five‑year‑old Irish show‑jumper Claine Cassidy has become a viral sensation on TikTok after posting a video about feeling lonely on weekends.

Cassidy, who is well known in the equestrian community, said she often has a busy week but finds herself isolated on Saturdays. She recalled sitting alone in a coffee shop when a group of girls entered, laughing and chatting, which highlighted how long it had been since she had a coffee date with a friend.

“I was sitting there on my own and thought, ‘What the hell? It’s a Saturday and I’m on my own,’” she told Lunchtime Live. The comment prompted her to record a short video and share it on TikTok, expecting only a few hundred views.

Instead, the clip quickly gained traction, with views climbing rapidly. Cassidy said the platform’s “mad perception” that everyone constantly enjoys social outings does not reflect the reality for many people, herself included.

Her candid message has resonated with a wide audience, sparking discussion about loneliness among young adults in Ireland.
