The war on Iran has emerged as a major campaign issue ahead of the United States midterm elections on Tuesday, 3 November.

Voters are heading to the polls with concerns about the conflict’s impact at home, including sharply rising fuel prices that are driving up the cost of other goods.

Polls indicate that many Democrats and Republicans alike believe the war is not worth its consequences, raising questions about how the election may affect the composition of the Senate and Dáil of Representatives.

Analysts such as Hassan Ahmadian, associate professor at the University of Tehran and deputy director of the Middle East Scientific and Strategic Studies Center, and Patrick Mara, chairman of the Washington, DC Republican Party, have commented on the potential implications for President Donald Trump’s remaining time in the White House.
