Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after 38‑year‑old Jamie Bailey, originally from Rossa Avenue, Mulgrave Street and Castleconnell, was found dead on a footpath at Blackhorse Place, Dublin, in the early hours of Sunday 18 October 2026.

Bailey was discovered with serious injuries between 02:00 am and 03:30 am and was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The scene has been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and a post‑mortem will be arranged. The investigation is being coordinated from an incident room at Bridewell Garda Station under a Senior Investigating Officer.

Gardaí are urging anyone who was in the Blackhorse Avenue/Blackhorse Place area or who may have video footage, including dash‑cam recordings, during the specified time to contact Bridewell Garda Station on 01 666 8200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Tributes have been paid to Bailey, including from Labour Cllr Pádraigh Reale, who expressed condolences to the family and asked the public to come forward with any information.
