Friends star Matthew Perry’s love of Enya revealed in new documentary

Friends star Matthew Perry’s fondness for Enya’s music has been disclosed by his close friends in the newly released Netflix documentary, The One About Matthew Perry.

Friends Roger Castillo and David Pressman recounted that, before achieving fame, Perry would drive a bright red Mazda Miata convertible down Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles County, California, with the top down, blasting Enya’s “Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)”.

The duo said Perry also incorporated Enya’s tracks into the show’s soundtrack, noting that the Season 8 episode “The One Where Chandler Takes a Bath” featured “Only Time” playing while Chandler, played by Perry, enjoyed a relaxing bath.

Perry died on 28 October 2023, aged 54, with the medical examiner attributing his death to the acute effects of the drug ketamine.
