Elderly driver hospitalised after crashing Ford Focus into Costa Coffee in Dublin 14

A man in his 70s was taken to hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries after his Ford Focus drove through the doors of a Costa Coffee outlet at Nutgrove Retail Park on Thursday afternoon.

The single‑vehicle incident occurred at about 1:15 pm on Nutgrove Avenue in Whitehall, Dublin 14. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene, where the coffee shop’s doors had been ripped from their hinges and glass was scattered across the floor.

According to a statement from An Garda Síochána, the driver was the only person involved and no other injuries have been reported.

The incident is being treated as a road‑traffic collision; further details have not been released.
