Donnacha Hurley has been named General Manager of The Limerick Strand Hotel, part of the MHL Hotel Collection.
Hurley, a native of Ballykeeffe, Co. Limerick, brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience, having worked in Ireland, the UK and Switzerland and most recently serving as Chief Executive of Limerick Chamber.
He succeeds the late Stephen O’Connor and was appointed by MHL Hotel Collection partners John Lally and Paul Higgins. In his new role Hurley will oversee operations at the four‑star riverside hotel, including the River Bar & Restaurant, conference facilities and the Energize Health Club.
Hurley studied at Shannon College of Hotel Management, completed a year in Zurich and finished the InterContinental Hotel Group graduate programme before holding management posts in Manchester and London. In 2008 he became chief executive of the Absolute Hotel Limerick, leading it through the recession, a refinancing and its sale in 2025.
While chief executive of Limerick Chamber, Hurley advocated on regional priorities such as housing, infrastructure and preparations for the Ryder Cup 2027. He said his focus at the Strand will be to build on strong foundations, support staff and enhance the guest experience as the city prepares for significant investment.
Hurley also holds positions as former President of Limerick Chamber, board member of Discover Limerick DAC and National Council Member of the Irish Hotels Federation.
